Pro-Active Sales Executive -Kent County Agricultural Society

Reporting To: General Manager, working alongside the Society Events Team Leader and

Kent Event Centre Team Leader

Basis: Full time/flexible over 5 days (to be discussed at interview)

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week, evening and weekend working will be required.

Location: Kent Showground/Remote working/Field based

Salary: Dependant on experience (please note that this is not commission based –
this will be a fixed salary.

Located at The Kent County Showground, The Kent County Agricultural Society Charity runs 6 society
events throughout the year and the commercial arm, The Kent Event Centre, hosts a diverse range of
conferences, exhibitions, and special events. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional
experiences and creating memorable moments for our clients and attendees.

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Proactive Sales Executive to join our team. The ideal
candidate will be responsible for driving sales, fostering relationships and creating strategic
connections within the agricultural industry. This role is vital in boosting sales in events, conferences
and other industry related gatherings.

The successful candidate will have a good knowledge of industry trends, with the ability to manage
workload with competing priorities. You will have impressive interpersonal skills to deal with
challenging situations and relationships with clients, as well as a strong ability to work as part of a
team, demonstrate initiative and solve problems independently. You will have excellent negotiation
skills and a passion for high-quality work and attention to detail.

Principle Accountabilities

Sales and Business Development covering both the Society Objectives and increasing business for the
Kent Event Centre:

– Develop and implement effective sales strategies to drive sales growth in line with both the Society and Kent Event Centre objectives and targets.

– Identify and pursue new sales opportunities through networking, industry events, conferences and direct outreach acting as a brand ambassador for the Society and Kent Event Centre to generate leads.

– Build and maintain strong, long lasting relationships with clients, industry partners and stakeholders.

– Actively participate in and represent the company at industry events, conferences and trade shows to promote produces and services.

– Conduce market research to identify new opportunities and stay updated with industry trends and competitor analysis/activity.

– Engage with potential and existing customers to understand their needs, provide solutions and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.

– Prepare and present regular sales reports, forecasts and performance metrics to management.

– Work closely with the marketing team to develop promotional materials and campaigns tailored to target audiences.

– Negotiate contracts and agreements with clients to maximise profits before handing this over to the event teams.

– Assist in establishing valuable contacts and collaborate with the sponsorship coordinator to identify and pursue new opportunities.

– KPI’s will include a monthly new business target, prospecting calls, face to face meetings/venue show rounds and networking for new direct business and agency opportunities.

– The position will be working closely with the Kent Event Centre Team Leader and the Society Events Team leader in the office.

In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the job holder may be required to perform other
duties assigned by General Manager from time to time.

Qualifications and Skills:

– A full valid UK driving licence is essential for this position.

– Be keen to travel to clients and networking events.

– Proven experience in sales, business development, and event management, preferably within the conference and events industry.

– Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and credibility with clients and stakeholders at all levels.

– Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

– Strategic mindset with a keen eye for identifying opportunities and driving revenue growth.

– Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.

– Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as required by event schedules.

– Have some knowledge of the agricultural industry.
