DELI MANAGER

Our Delicatessen sits at the heart of our Food Hall, showcasing a range of over 150 cheeses, as well as charcuterie, olives & antipasti. With one of the largest cheese ranges in the country, we are well known for our produce. Our passionate deli team have a wealth of knowledge about our food, and take great pride in sharing it with our customers.

THE ROLE

As a Deli Manager, you will have a passion for, and a love of, fantastic food, ideally with experience of working in the fine food or deli industry. You will be at the forefront of introducing our extraordinary range to our customers and ensuring they have an outstanding experience from start to finish. You will be an expert in this department and as such, you will have a desire to talk to and teach customers about our Deli produce, as well as a willingness to learn and direct customers to other areas of our business.

You will be part of a dedicated team leading on all aspects of the day-to-day operation of a successful Deli. As well as immersing yourself in this wonderful world of cheese and charcuterie, and delivering an incredible customer journey, you will also be leading the following areas:

  • Merchandising and product presentation
  • Building relationships with suppliers and producers
  • Team knowledge and development
  • Food hygiene and safe working practices
  • Stock control and care

This role will include weekends and occasional evening work. You will receive 28 days holiday per year (pro rata based on hours) and this includes Bank Holidays.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Post: Deli Manager

Responsible To: Head of Deli and Wine Operations

Summary of post: To be responsible for the development and delivery of the Deli Department

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. To be responsible for all Deli operations.
  1. To provide energetic and inspiring leadership for all site staff, ensuring that all Deli staff have clear line management responsibilities and accountability.
  1. To lead in and ensure the Macknade vision, ethos and values are at the heart of the customer experience at every touchpoint.
  1. To liaise with your line manager on the range within the Deli, ensuring this is in line with our Macknade vision and ethos
  1. To develop and implement robust costing and pricing models to ensure value for money and budgeted GP is achieved.
  1. To take ownership of and maintain stock levels
  1. To lead on the compliance with legislative requirements, company policies and guidelines in respect to health & safety and data protection ensuring a 5* hygiene rating is achieved
  1. To ensure that optimal staffing structures are in place to deliver a high-quality customer experience whilst maintaining an efficient cost base.
  1. To participate in the staff support and development scheme and to undertake training based on individual and operational needs.
  1. To demonstrate positive personal and professional behaviour as specified in the Staff Code of Conduct.
  1. To undertake any other duties as reasonably requested.

Skills and Ability

Ability to lead a team to deliver outstanding customer service at every touchpoint

Highly effective organisational skills with the ability to successfully develop and work within a positive and inclusive culture.

A clear passion to build on the Macknade reputation for offering high quality, value for money and an outstanding experience.

Experience of a management role with a responsibility for delivering results in a commercial context is beneficial

Successful track record in senior positions in a dynamic and fast paced business

Detailed knowledge of high quality delicatessen produce

Demonstrable experience of working in food retail and associated hygiene practice
