17th March 2025
Spring is certainly on its way and we are pleased to say that we have had a good February.
We enjoyed Valentine's Firkins at Full Moon with the talented James Skelton. This was preceded by a very well attended quiz evening which raised over £300 for the League of Friends Kent and Canterbury Hospital. Thank you to those of you who came and made it such a good evening. Special thanks to Alistair and Julian, our quiz master and scorer for their grand efforts and Colin for being the inspiration for the quiz.
Our current seasonal beer is Goody Gum Drops, 4.3% abv, a subtly fruity beer made with berries and fruit handpicked from our own hedgerows giving a very delicate lingering berry flavour and hoppy bitterness – one of the five a day?!
You might have noticed some improvements at the front of the brewery. We have invested in some paving and concreting to tidy up the front area. Also, we are improving the entrance to our track at the brewery and filling in some of the holes in the track. It would be great if Braggs Lane could be resurfaced by Kent County Council but unfortunately, they only seem to fill in potholes which only lasts sometimes days! They ‘repaired’ it quite recently and KCC now think they can tick it off their list as done! We have been trying for years to get it resurfaced but to no avail. However, If you are in the mood for a little complaint to KCC, this is the link: https://www.kent.gov.uk/roads-and-travel/report-a-problem as the more people complain, the more chance something might be done. Or just look on google Kent County Council report a problem on a road.
Another investment we have made recently is to purchase a new boiler. The ‘Beast’ that heated the water to make the beer has gone into retirement and has been replaced by the ‘Mini Beast’. It is newer, cleaner, slightly more sophisticated and a lot more efficient.
Our next event is on Saturday 29th March, we have Tainted Lovers, a lively local band performing lots of great ‘70s & ’80s hits.
It is great to see so many people coming to the brewery and still sitting outside in probably the biggest beer garden in Kent as well as under our covered area and inside the Cathedral bar, enjoying delicious freshly brewed beer! Children are very welcome, there is plenty of space for them to enjoy themselves but we would like to remind you that you will be responsible for supervising them at all times. We have a new set of swings for children which has been very popular already!
We do not take bookings but you are welcome to bring your own outside chairs and table. We do not permit any other drinks or food onto the premises.

Getting to us…
BUSES: Buses from Canterbury, Herne Bay and Whitstable (Triangle) stops just a two-minute walk from the Brewery. If you come by bus and get off at the garden centre, opposite the garden centre you can walk through the copse starting at a trio of trees then follow the route marked with white spots on the trees. It will bring you out into a field which you cross diagonally to lead to the brewery field.
CAR: Plenty of parking in our car park or adjoining field.
BICYCLE: great off-road routes from Whitstable along the Crab and Winkle Way or from Canterbury through Blean Woods and plenty of space to park your bike.
