At Lily’s Social Kitchen, we believe in the power of community. Small acts of kindness can have a great impact. That’s why we’re excited to share our new Pay it Forward scheme as an opportunity for our customers to join us in making a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most. In collaboration with The Kings School and St Nicholas School, money raised will be used to prepare hot, nourishing meals for the homeless in Canterbury.
What is the Pay it Forward Scheme?
It’s simple yet powerful. When you visit our café, you can choose to add as little as £1 to your bill. This small gesture goes a long way, helping us fund a special project that brings together local pupils and supports a vital cause in our city.
A Community Collaboration
The donations collected from the Pay it Forward scheme are used in a unique partnership project with students from King’s School and St Nicholas School. Together, these young people prepare nourishing meals for the Canterbury Winter Shelter, an essential service that provides food, warmth, and a safe space for vulnerable members of our community during the harsh winter months.
This project is more than just meal preparation. It’s about building connections, learning important life skills, and fostering a sense of responsibility and empathy in the next generation. The students work together, guided by our team and local chefs, to create hearty, delicious meals that bring comfort to those experiencing homelessness.
Supporting Catching Lives
We’ve always loved working with Catching Lives, a charity that offers vital support services to the homeless and vulnerably housed in Canterbury. Through this new initiative, we’re extending our partnership and offering another avenue of support. By donating through the Pay it Forward scheme, you’re directly contributing to this collaboration and helping us give back to the community that means so much to us.
Why Get Involved?
Your contribution might seem small, but it has a ripple effect. It not only provides a meal for someone in need but also supports a meaningful learning experience for local students. It’s a simple yet powerful way to be part of a larger story of kindness and community spirit.
Next time you’re in the café, why not add a pound to your bill? It’s an easy way to show your support, spread kindness, and make a real impact in Canterbury. Together, we can continue to create a community where everyone feels cared for and valued.
