Award-winning bakery, Gilda, nestled in the heart of the Kentish countryside just outside of Canterbury and renowned for its dedication to artisanal excellence, is excited to announce the launch of a special collaboration highlighting Kent’s finest produce: the Ashmore Cheddar and Shepherd Neame Spitfire Ale
Hot Cross Bun. Just in time for Easter, these savoury buns represent a true fusion of Kentish craftsmanship, featuring premium ingredients sourced from esteemed partners.
Gilda Bakery proudly partners with Shepherd Neame, Kent's oldest brewery, to infuse their iconic hot cross buns with the rich, malty flavours of the legendary Spitfire ale. This collaboration epitomises their commitment to supporting and celebrating local businesses that share a dedication to quality and tradition.
In addition, they have further enhanced the traditional hot cross bun by incorporating Ashmore Farmhouse, a cheddar-style cheese from acclaimed Cheesemakers of Canterbury. Renowned for its creamy texture and subtle nutty undertones, Ashmore cheese adds a unique savoury dimension to the buns perfectly complementing the hearty flavours of the Spitfire ale.
“As a small artisan business, we are delighted to be collaborating with such iconic Kent suppliers.” Jon Warren, founder & managing director, Gilda Bakery
“Using locally-sourced ingredients wherever possible and partnering with local suppliers is something we strive to do, and we are delighted that our iconic brand, Spitfire, is helping this truly local collaboration fly high this Easter.” Rose Davis, brands marketing manager, Shepherd Neame
