Are you as happy as Larry?
This saying originates from ‘down under’ with Australian and New Zealand origins. Who is Larry? The late 19th century Australian boxer Larry Foley never lost a fight - he is often referred to as ‘the Father of Australian Boxing’. In the 1890s he won the biggest prize of about $150,000 - a newspaper article in New Zealand had the headline “Happy as Larry” and the phrase stuck!
