17th September 2024
The Corner House has launched a special menu to celebrate British Food Fortnight, which takes place from September 20th until October 6th.
Chef owner, Matt Sworder is a Love British Food Ambassador and has put together a tempting menu of his seasonal favourites.
The menu features a starter of pork & black pudding Scotch egg with homemade piccalilli, a main of venison and mushroom suet pudding with mash, red wine jus and seasonal greens and chocolate orange bread & butter pudding with cream for dessert.
Dishes can be ordered individually or diners can enjoy the entire British Food Fortnight Menu for £45.

THE CORNER HOUSE CHOCOLATE ORANGE BREAD AND BUTTER PUDDING
This has to be the ultimate British comfort food. I love the texture and combination of the chocolate and orange zest running through it. The addition of orange zest helps it beat the much-loved original.
INGREDIENTS
1⁄2 a loaf of sliced white bread
100g unsalted butter, soft
8 eggs
530 ml milk
270 ml cream
8 tbsp sugar
1 vanilla pod, use the best you can find
Zest of two oranges
200g dark chocolate chips with 70% or over cocoa solids
PREPARATION
Mix the eggs and sugar using a whisk, then add the milk, cream, vanilla and orange zest.
Butter a baking tray and butter one side of the bread.
Cut each piece of bread into two triangles.
Layer the bread in the baking tray, adding chocolate chips and orange zest to each layer and the mix as you build it.
Cook in a bain-marie at 160°C.
Check after 25 minutes; you are looking for the custard to be just set.
Alternatively, you can oven cook at 150°C for 35 minutes.
