Last Halloween the most popular fancy-dress costume, was apparently a…. lettuce.
Following Liz Truss resigning in the build-up to scary season, revellers celebrated the media-famous lettuce which outlasted her premiership by donning it as a costume.
This year you won't be dressing as a lettuce but you will be able to eat English lettuce in your Halloween salad which was grown, from seed to bag, the very same month in Kent - in a vertical farm. YES - ENGLISH SALAD GROWN in OCTOBER. Because this is the first year Tesco will be selling the ground-breaking salad - called Unbeleafable - nationwide in its stores.
Vertical farms grow salad inside, in a highly controlled environment which gives the leaves the perfect lighting and temperature to grow, which creates a beautiful Mediterranean spring day, every day of the year.
This means every season is now salad season - and not just the summer months.
It also means that the very first human (or non-human!) hand to ever touch your unbeleafable salad leaves will be yours.
There are three tasty Unbeleafable salads in the range (crisp green leaves, mixed baby leaves and rocket and baby leaves), and they come in a 90g bag which is priced at £1.50.
