Kent producers shone at this year's Great Taste Awards with flavours from around the world.
Produced in Kent members had a fantastic result in this year’s Great Taste Awards, announced on the 21st September, with 24 products winning awards.
Great Taste is the largest and most trusted food & drink accreditation scheme. It supports and promotes food & drink producers, large and small, giving buyers and food lovers in the UK and overseas reliable recommendations for great tasting food.
Since 1994, more than 150,000 products have been put through this robust judging process. Each one is fastidiously blind-tasted by selected chefs, cooks, buyers, retailers, restaurateurs, food critics and writers.
The judges look for truly great taste, regardless of branding or packaging. They take into account texture, appearance and of course the quality of the ingredients; they will note a good aroma, a decent bite, or a particularly smooth or crunchy texture. But above all else, the question remains – does the product taste truly great?
Floortje Hoette from Produced in Kent said: “We are thrilled that so many Produced in Kent members have been awarded stars this year. It is so important for Kent producers to get global recognition and as the GTA is the world’s largest and most trusted food and drink awards at this time of year, it puts Kent on the map as a fantastic foodie destination.”
Winners are awarded one, two or three stars if the judges agree they deserve it based on taste. Those who are not nominated will receive constructive feedback to help them for future entries.
