Grape Harvest- the most exciting time of the year! Ever wondered what its like to harvest grapes from a 6 acre vineyard?
Harvest at Wayfarer is open to volunteers, even for just a few hours! Picking dates are TBC, sign up to our newsletter or e-mail karen@wayfarerwines.com with your name and number if you’d like an invite.
Learn a little about how it all works and enjoy a light bite to eat with the team, plus as celebratory glass of wine at the end. The day begins at 9am and the finishes at approx. 2pm, although volunteers are free to come and go as they please.
You will normally pick grapes directly into your own bucket, which you will empty periodically into crates which have been left spaced up the rows of vines. These crates will then be collected by people who just focus on that task, leaving you to focus on the picking. We will get you picking the same row as someone else – this may be a friend you’ve come with or a complete stranger. Either way, you soon develop a camaraderie, and there’s usually time for a nice chat too.
Be sure to have good footwear for the vineyard, practical for uneven terrain and comfortable, and if possible bring waterproof jacket or layers. Harvest is a great way to get an insight into the wine industry, and feel a part of the Wayfarer family for the day.

Our first vineyard was planted in 2016, almost 3,000 vines at the rear of the family home, nestled in the rolling landscape along the beautiful Pilgrims Way in Kent.
