Did You Know? Karl Marx Was a Visitor to Margate!

Karl Marx, the famous philosopher and political theorist, lived in London from 1849 until his death in 1883. But did you know he spent time on the Kent coast? In March 1866, he complained that his doctor had "banished" him to Margate, though he admitted the sea air was “wonderfully pure and invigorating.” He even visited the Royal Sea Bathing Hospital for treatment – proof that Kent’s coastal charm has been attracting visitors for centuries!
