Here are some ghostly sightings recorded in Broadstairs … you decide!

- At a Broadstairs boarding school in the early 1900s, the ghostly vision of a man with a bloated face was seen. The occupant of the premises thought he was being burgled but all attempts to find the culprit failed … the bloated-faced man had vanished into the air. The man who encountered this ghost was famous author Dennis Wheatley!

- At a grand property, Thanet House, a stooping man has been seen standing over a small lake, giving the impression he’s looking for something.

- Near to Nelson Place in the early 1900s, a newspaper reported the presence of a female. A piano was heard playing in the building that did not have a piano! The rustling of her dress, the smell of her perfume and the family cats were playing with someone who could not be seen.

- In the 1970s at Woodside Cottage, a woman in a long gown was seen a couple of times. Her presence is more notable for regularly having been heard to be walking in the upstairs of the building.

- Various ghosts have been sighted at Kingsgate Castle and on the beach below - as recently as 2010 and 2011 a nurse and a nun were spotted. Spooky!
