Corkk, the online wine retailer, is planning to welcome its first customers through its doors at the former Trailfinders premises in Burgate, Canterbury, next month once renovations are completed.
The business will be the first store, bar and event space of its kind dedicated to English wines in the country. Founder Jonathan Piggins said: “English wines have come a very long way in the last 20 years and are being increasingly recognised for their quality. We have that very special produce right on our doorstep in Kent and people to discover and enjoy wines, both locally grown and further afield
Jonathan has joined forces with local expert, Master of Wine, Clive Barlow, who is the founder of the Canterbury Wine Festival. Their aim is to celebrate English wines, especially those from Kent where there are now many award-winning wines being produced in vineyards across the county.
The new business will be a shop and bar, and it will also host tasting sessions with regular visits from vineyard owners.
The first floor will host a tasting and event space which overlooks the Cathedral, while the ground floor will be both retail space and somewhere people can experience the wonderful variety of English wines under one roof in the heart of Canterbury.
Look out for details of the opening soon.
