Having always been passionate about local produce, when John discovered the cider maker at Brogdale Farm was considering retirement, he was immediately interested. Working at the home of The National Fruit Collections gives us access to an enormous variety of apples and pears, enabling us to produce a fabulous range of craft ciders, pressed in the traditional manner on our twin-bed rack and cloth press.
Many years ago, the leftover pommace from cidermaking was fed to the Butcher of Brogdale's pet Mangalitsa Pigs. These beautiful animals, with their sheep like woolly coats, gave our ciders their name. We now produce several variations but our main dry still cider will always be "Woolly Pig".
