The Produced in Kent Discovery Box is a delightful treasure trove for food enthusiasts and lovers of local produce!
Spring is here, and it’s time to head outdoors – or at least open the windows and pretend it’s warm enough. This month’s Produced in Kent Discovery Box is all about slowing down, tucking into something delicious, and supporting the incredible producers who make Kent taste so good.
The April box is perfect for an Easter picnic or a relaxed cheeseboard with family and friends. It’s packed with handcrafted delights worth over £35 – yours for just £30!
Here’s what’s in the box:
🧀 Cheesemakers of Canterbury Ashmore (200g) – A traditional, unpasteurised cheddar-style cheese made by hand at a small dairy in Dargate. The team behind it are passionate about reviving heritage cheesemaking in Kent – and Ashmore is their signature.
🧀 Cheesemakers of Canterbury Bowyers Brie (200g) – Rich, creamy and soft, this brie is made using milk from Kentish cows and ripened to perfection. It’s a must-have for any proper cheeseboard.
🥄 Wooden Spoon Three Fruit Chutney with Whitstable Bay Ale (190g) – A sweet and tangy blend of fruits and locally brewed ale, this chutney is made in small batches by a family-run team near Wye. Perfect with cheese, cold cuts, or straight from the jar (we won’t judge).
🍏 Nightingale Cider Nightbird (440ml) – A refreshingly crisp cider made from Kentish dessert apples by the Nightingale family, who’ve been growing fruit in Tenterden for generations. Nightbird is bright, lively, and made for sipping outdoors.
🍎 Nightingale Cider Wild Disco (440ml) – Named after the discovery apple and just as fun, this naturally sparkling cider is bursting with fresh, floral notes. It’s bold, a bit wild, and dangerously drinkable.
🥔 Kent Crisps Chipotle (150g) – Smoky, spicy and incredibly moreish, these hand-cooked crisps are made with local potatoes and real chipotle seasoning. A proper Kent crunch from a producer committed to keeping things local.
🥄 Wooden Spoon Mustard & Spitfire Ale (113g) – A punchy mustard made with Shepherd Neame’s iconic Spitfire Ale, crafted by the same team who brought you the chutney. Small-batch, full of flavour, and the ideal companion to your Easter ham or sausage roll.
✨ This month’s box is perfect for a spring get-together, Easter weekend nibble-fest, or a thoughtful gift that supports Kent’s artisan producers. Every product has a story – and when you buy a Discovery Box, you become part of it.

After more than 20 years in the dairy business, Jane Bowyer knew Kent’s milk deserved better – so in 2007, she launched Cheesemakers of Canterbury. Armed with a traditional recipe gifted by a retiring cheesemaking couple in Wiltshire, Jane set up shop at Lamberhurst Farm, Dargate. Her small team – affectionately dubbed “the blessed cheesemakers” – still use traditional techniques to handmake their award-winning cheeses. The Ashmore is a mature, nutty classic; the Bowyers Brie is rich, creamy, and dangerously spreadable.
Run by Laura Bounds MBE, Kent Crisps is part of a family of food businesses championing the flavours of Kent. Laura is a passionate ambassador for the county’s produce and people, and under her leadership, Kent Crisps has become a globally recognised brand – while staying true to its roots. These hand-cooked crisps use local potatoes and punchy seasonings, like the smoky Chipotle in this month’s box. Crunchy, bold, and unmistakably Kent.
Cider runs in the blood for the Nightingales. The family has been farming in Tenterden since 1948, but it was Sam Nightingale who brought cider-making back to the farm – initially as a hobby. In 2015, he left his job in sound recording and returned full-time to the orchards. Today, Nightingale Cider is known for its bold, naturally-fermented, 100% fruit-juice ciders. Sam and the team make every drop themselves – bridging tradition and innovation to put proper Kentish cider back on the map.
Nestled in a converted Oast House near Wye, The Wooden Spoon Preserving Co. has been creating award-winning preserves since 1970. Today it’s run by Jeff Higgins, who swapped a career in brand marketing and sports PR for jam pans and chutney pots in 2004. With a viewing gallery overlooking the production space and a shop on site, the business is a proud part of its rural community. Expect traditional recipes, top-quality ingredients, and a serious love of fruit.
